Bharatanatyam previously called “Sadir Attam” is the oldest classical dance tradition of India that is indigenous to Tamil Nadu, a state in India.
Mohiniyattam is a a solo expressive dance (Ekaharya Abhinaya) aided by singing and music, performed in the Kaisiki vritti (graceful style), as discussed in ancient Indian performance arts texts such as the Natya Shastra.
Bollywood dance is the dance-form used in the Indian films. It is a mixture of numerous styles. These styles include belly-dancing, kathak, Indian folk, Western popular, and “modern”, jazz, and even Western erotic dancing.
Kuchipudi, the dance-drama performance is one of the eleven major Indian classical dances with its roots in the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text of Natya Shastra developed as a religious art linked to traveling bards, temples and spiritual beliefs, like all major classical dances of India.
Kathakali is a traditional Indian dance native to the southern state of Kerala. To perform it, artists deck out in elaborate costumes, traditional face masks and colorful makeup to tell stories from Hindu epics.
Sarshti is one among five kinds of liberation as explained in the sacred Hindu texts.
We at Sarshti promise to set you on a voyage of artistic exploration and self-discovery through dance. Dance, as an art form is truly spiritual and is believed to have magical powers on soul and body. When dance develops into that rhythmic mantra, it will transform you physically and spiritually. Dance, for some, is a hobby or physical exercise. For a few, it is a habit or a way of life. At Sarshti, we yearn to make dance intrinsic to your body and elevate you artistically, physically and spiritually. We aspire to present you with the pure bliss of a dancing soul.
